Best Engagement Session Locations in Palm Springs
First and foremost, congratulations on your engagement!
Palm Springs is a picturesque desert city in California that offers stunning views and numerous locations for engagement photoshoots. Whether you are a local or a visitor, there are several spots you can choose from to capture beautiful moments with your partner. In this post, we will explore my favorite engagement locations in Palm Springs, including Moorten Botanical Garden, Saguaro Hotel Palm Springs, Palm Springs Windmills, Midcentury Modern Neighborhoods, Palm Springs Visitor Center, and Joshua Tree National Park.
1) Moorten Botanical Garden
Moorten Botanical Garden is a unique location for engagement photoshoots, with its stunning collection of desert plants and cacti and greenhouse on-site. The garden features a variety of different species, including rare plants that will make your photos stand out. The garden is open to visitors, and admission is affordable ($5pp + $35 professional photography fee), making it a great option for engagement sessions. You can even purchase a cute cactus to take home after your session!
2) The Saguaro Palm Springs
The Saguaro Palm Springs is a vibrant and colorful hotel. The vibrant colors and desert-inspired decor provide a perfect backdrop for engagement pictures. You can also take advantage of the hotel's outdoor spaces, including the pool area and the courtyard, painted doors of each guest room, and the hammocks for cute snuggly photos!
3) Palm Springs Windmills
The Palm Springs Windmills are an iconic feature of the city's landscape and a popular spot for engagement photoshoots. The windmills are located just outside the city and offer stunning views of the desert and the San Jacinto Mountains. The best time to visit is during the golden hour, just before sunset, when the light is soft and warm, creating a romantic and dreamy atmosphere. Just a heads up, this location is windy! However, the wind creates motion in clothing and looks amazing in moving photos, like shots of you dancing with your fiancé during a gorgeous desert sunset!
4) Neighborhoods with midcentury modern homes
Palm Springs is known for its midcentury modern architecture, and the city's neighborhoods offer numerous backdrops for engagement photoshoots. You can take a stroll through the streets and admire the unique and colorful houses and buildings (remember these are people’s homes. Be respectful and definitely don’t walk onto lawns or property!). You can also rent an Airbnb for an in-home session, as well.
4) Palm Springs Visitor Center
Palm Springs Visitor Center is less than a 10-minute drive from downtown Palm Springs. It has stunning desert landscapes, mountain backdrops, pretty palm trees, and the “Palm Springs” sign.
5) Joshua Tree National Park
If you are willing to venture outside of Palm Springs, Joshua Tree National Park is an incredible location for engagement photoshoots. The park offers a vast and diverse landscape of desert scenery, including unique rock formations, Joshua trees, and stunning sunsets. You will need to pay an admission fee to enter the park, but the experience is well worth it.
